Terms of service
last updated July 14, 2026
These terms cover using chumbi. We’ve kept them plain. By creating an account you agree to them.
What chumbi does
chumbi finds where your personal information appears on data brokers and people-search sites, and — once you subscribe and sign a mandate — sends legal removal requests on your behalf, follows the statutory deadlines, and re-checks periodically for reappearances. The free scan and the exposure report show you where you appear; they do not remove anything on their own.
Your authorisation (the mandate)
Before we contact any broker for you, you sign a mandate authorising chumbi to exercise specific data-protection rights on your behalf: erasure (Article 17), access (Article 15), and objection (Article 21). The mandate is limited to those rights, valid for one year, and revocable by you at any time with immediate effect.
Payment
The exposure report is a one-time charge. Continuous protection is a subscription, billed monthly or annually. If you bought a report, its price is credited in full against your first subscription invoice. You can cancel the subscription at any time; you keep access until the end of the paid period. There is no one-time “clean-up” product, because a digital footprint regenerates — protection is ongoing by nature.
What we can and can’t promise
We send legally-grounded requests and pursue them diligently, including escalating to the competent authority when a broker ignores the law. But we do not control the brokers, and we cannot guarantee that every one will comply, or comply on time. Some may claim exemptions (for example a publication licence). We’ll tell you honestly what happens with each request — we never inflate results or count removals from sites you never appeared on.
Acceptable use
Use chumbi only to manage your own personal data, or data you are lawfully authorised to act on behalf of. Don’t use it to interfere with other people’s data or to abuse the request channels.
Liability
chumbi is provided in good faith and with reasonable care. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending your account
You can delete your account and all of your data at any time, immediately, from your security settings. We may suspend an account that abuses the service. On deletion, any in-flight requests to brokers stop.
